Jessica Bradley’s portrayal of the human image challenges the reality of contemporary sculpture. A clever blend of ancient and modern, they reflect humanity beyond technique. Hand built in clay the pieces are unglazed, then either finished to give the surface a stone-like appearance, or painted. The depiction of human heads in art is a timeless practice. They can be used to symbolise power, protection, healing or harm and through their form, display feeling, character and emotion.

Jessica studied Graphic Design, followed by a degree in Art and Design in Ipswich in the 1990s. Both courses enabled her to explore a variety of creative practices including illustration and drawing as well as and ceramics and glass.

Currently, she is focussed on further exploring the form and feeling within her carvings and ceramic sculpture
