ERYKA ISAAK

Searching for visual harmony, and harnessing material transformations, Eryka creates works filled with secrecy and dynamism. She invites the perception of glass as a robust, wonderfully tactile, and enduring material. Drawing inspiration from land and ocean on our planet, Eryka endeavours to capture movement within the glass, caught in a current, or trapped like fossils, and sediment. The movement of light through the pieces plays an important role.

The EXOPLANETS series has been directly inspired by her sister’s current mission, CHEOPS, at ESA, a satellite which studies exoplanets - which could be made from water, rock or gases, no-one knows yet…

Using various glass-forming techniques and exploring the relationships between glass, copper, light, concrete and stone I created floor, wall and table lamps, as well as huge chandeliers.
