My work revisits modernist issues of colour and form but equally pop concerns of market, commercial context and mass productivity. This juxtaposition of painterly concerns results in an eclectic mixture of form and content. The paintings exist in a location between the physical and the metaphysical. They represent every aspect of my personality, not just human reason and intellect but also emotions, instincts, feelings and imagination: co-existing with and for each other. I work with immediacy and honesty attempting paintings that are not pretty, but rousing, and oddly arresting. Through a fine balance of offbeat formal juxtapositions I seduce the viewer into pondering the fundamental process and semiotics of painting.
