Euan Cunningham

Born: 1969
Euan's interest is in finding unusual and different views of exteriors, features and interiors that are part of our everyday life. He likes to also find buildings that have fallen into disrepair, where nature is beginning to take a hold and the contrast this brings. There is always a search for surreal elements in everyday things around us and this influence has come from a love of the work, amongst others, of Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte.

As an artist living in London, Euan finds a rich vein of inspiration by the fact that it is a constantly changing metropolis with new and exciting buildings appearing all the time, which contrasts well with the curiousities of the old historic city.
He loves the freedom and the immediacy of drawing and feels there’s no need to be a slave to all the detail and believes a few lines has the potential to say so much more than an overworked drawing. All the works are ink and watercolour and each drawing is a one off.

Euan lives with his partner, the printmaker Sally Cutler and their son in Camberwell, London. Euan has a studio in New Cross.
